Frequently asked questions
How much inspection experience does the inspector have?
The inspector has spent more than 40 years in the construction industry and has been involved in the building community on Roatan for almost 20 years. This advantage allows Roatan Inspections to knowledgeably inspect and report on island buildings of all types.
If I have any questions on the report, can I actually talk to the inspector who conducted the inspection?
The inspector is available for a telephone conversation to discuss all of the elements of the report so you understand all of the things that he found, and their significance.
How long does it take to get the report after I hire the inspector?
The inspection report is normally available the day after the inspection is conducted.
Who will see my report?
The only person to whom the inspection report is sent is the client -- the person who paid the bill. That report is intended for their use only. The report should not be reused or resold for the use of others.
How much will it cost to inspect my home?
The price depends on a number of factors including the age of the home, the size of the home, the number of buildings on the property, the type of inspection and the location of the property on the island. A typical inspection costs about US$ 500, but the price could be a little more or less depending on these factors.
When do I pay for my inspection and how do I pay for it?
You can pay for the inspection online using your credit card on the secure Roatan Inspections website or you can do a bank to bank wire transfer, either internationally or domestically. We can discuss this prior to the inspection.
What if the inspector misses something?
The inspector is required to report on every problem that he can see. This is a non-invasive inspection meaning that he is not required to move furniture, lift carpeting or open up walls to discover problems. The problem must be visible to the inspector.
Do you perform annual maintenance inspections?
We provide annual or semi-annual maintenance inspections, often for absentee owners who want to know what's going on in their property while they're not onsite. This gives the owner another set of eyes looking at the maintenance of their property before issues become items that need expensive repairs.
